Developers Developers Developers.

You don't have to be a programmer to know how much Microsoft values developers. Videos of Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer addressing a huge crowd of developers at a conference by repeating the word 'Developer' are everywhere on the Web.

It demonstrates his and the companies passion for coders.

Developers will be pleased with the new release of Visual Studio 2008. It adds a lot to make developers more efficient and productive and provides tools to make every app "connected."

One of the tricks with developing applications is to be both backwards and forward compatible. So we'll hear how Visual Studio can target multiple versions of frameworks. Even new apps like Internet Explorer 8 have to respect legacy constraints but have to look forward for functionality from newer technologies like Ajax and Silverlight.

With about 70% of enterprises using the dot net framework, a new release of Visual Studio is, of course, of great interest to them. But there are versions for a variety of target audiences including a freebie for home hobbyists.
