If you are in business - you have to be concerned with pricing. Whether you sell a product or a service, whether you are brick & mortar or virtual or a combination, pricing is a crucial component of your success or failure. Nobody wants to leave money on the table but you don't want to lose a sale by being too high.

Elliot B. Ross knows pricing. He is co-founder of The MFL Group, and was previously head of McKinsey & Company's worldwide marketing practice.

During his 15-year tenure at that firm, he became its thought leader in proactive pricing management, authoring articles in several journals, including the Harvard Business Review.

The Great Lakes Geek caught up with Mr. Ross after his stellar presentation at a meeting of the John Carroll University Entrepreneurs Association

Don't miss the downloadable copies of the MFL Group's 'Pricing Times' newsletter.

In this interview, Mr. Ross explains why list prices can transfer the power of pricing from your hands to your customers and competitors.
