i2i Stream Digital Music Broadcaster

We've all seen it. Lovebirds sharing a pair of earbuds to listen to their song. Yuck. Get a room!

Sharing music from your MP3 player is one of the many scenarios that the i2i can handle.

These devices from Aerielle are about the size of a cigarette lighter and let you broadcast and receive your music (CD quality) from a variety of devices. Either of the units can be the transmitter or receiver.

i2i two pack

Here's an example of what you can do. Plug your source device (laptop, iPod, PC, whatever) into one unit and press the button to make it the transmitter. You can plug your headphones into the other end of the i2i Stream so you can still hear.

Another person has an i2i unit and plugs their headphones into it. They press the receive button and they can then hear what is going through your device and your headphones - wirelessly.

i2i Stream with headphone cable

There are 7 different channels shown as 7 different colors on the units. To connect, make sure that if the transmitter has a red light, for example, the receivers do too. The i2i uses the 2.4GHz range from the transmitting device to the receiving device and is good for up to about 30'. 2.4 GHz is also used by WiFi so you may have to adjust the channels used to get an interference-free connection. But that's as simple as pressing a button to change the color.

You can broadcast from and to about a dozen different ways - from your home entertainment system to headphones or from your iPod to a friend's Zune or whatever audio sources you may have. You can even send music from your PC to powered speakers in another room - wirelessly.

See various scenarios at the i2gear website. You can find the i2i Stream for about $90 and that includes 2 devices and all the cables and gear you will need.
